Why Is the Royal Family Not Allowed to Play Monopoly
- As monarch Queen Elizabeth remains at home in Windsor indefinitely due to the coronavirus, there'south a rather light-headed story nigh which board game the Royal Family tin can't play at domicile.
- The game, yous ask? Monopoly, because "it gets too vicious." I am delighted by this whole thing, TBH.
- Looking for some Queenly nostalgia? The Royal Family released a cute, personal video of Elizabeth as a youngster for her contempo altogether.
You guys, this story has made my entire calendar week. Co-ordinate toExpress, there'southward ane game the Royal Family unit willnot exist playing equally they remain quarantined—and that game is Monopoly, because the Queen has evidently "banned" it from beingness played at habitation.
Hasbro Monopoly Board Game
And, before anyone says anything, no, this is not a story about the Queen existence a tyrant or imposing insane restrictions, etc. etc. It'due south but based on a (kind of adorable?) anecdote from 2008 that I'm just going to go out here:
"In December 2008, Prince Andrew attended Leeds Building Society's newly-refurbished Albion Street headquarters. Before he left the Knuckles of York was given the property lath game Monopoly to marking his visit.
"However, Andrew had to politely turn down the game equally he reportedly revealed: 'We are not allowed to play Monopoly at home.'The Daily Telegraph reported Andrew explained the game could cause arguments within the family unit, as 'it gets too vicious.'"
Guys, I cannot help but honey this and so much. It has everything I desire! In my mind, the Queen dominating everything and winning every fourth dimension (or playing the role of the banker, considering, obviously). Family unit members wailing "Mum!" "Granny!" "Great-granny!" at the unfairness of information technology all. Cards and pieces and (eventually the board) going flight. Really that last i's probably merely Monopoly at my house—we take a lot of competitive people—but in my listen that's exactly how it works out.
Seriously, just imaginethis Monopoly game, and tell me that'southward not the near amazing affair.
